Western Chapter HMA
27 Sep 2017, 07:01
Hello everyone,

I wanted to let everyone know I have started to visit the local chapters in the state. First on my list was the Western chapter. They had a great turnout at Joe Basil Chevrolet in Depew, Ny! Bob from Pembroke did an excellent job with the meeting as expected. I had the chance to chat with everyone on several key issues, and it was a great response from all of them. They hit on several topics, such as Electronic DVIR’s, DOT Inspectors new IPODS, Brake certifications, and warranty concerns. Joe Basil Chevrolet put on an excellent presentation on county bids for School districts and helped answer a lot of questions. Hats off to the Western Chapter. I will keep you updated as I will be visiting 2 different chapters in the month of October!

Thanks again,
You’re President:

PETER MARINI "GARAGE STAR" 31 Aug 2017, 09:04
I wanted to take this time and say how awesome it is to see one of our fellow Head Mechanics on the School transportation news magazine. Mr. Marini was under the Garage stars section, and is well deserving of it. It has been a privilege of mine to work with and know him on a personal basis and I guarantee he is most deserving of this recognition. Hats of To Mr. Marini, and if you want to congratulate him, his email is pmarini@fairport.org
In case you didn't know he is also your VP of NY Head Mechanics Association. He is a wealth of knowledge and a great asset to our organization!!

Ford Transit RECALL
04 Aug 2017, 09:32
From Rusty Seastrum at DOT
Please read below and open the attachment.
Thanks.
Jason

It has been brought to my attention that some of the older vehicles covered by the attached recall are now being found with the drive shaft joint component significantly cracked.

Typically it is our procedure to allow the recall process to run its course, however, the older vehicles should have been repaired. Therefore, if components are found as having a significant crack then the vehicle should be placed out-of-service until repaired.

If the component is only showing preliminary signs of cracking on a vehicle with relatively low mileage then the operator should only be advised of the recall and given reasonable time to have the repair done under the recall process.

Please advise your staff.
